Earlier yesterday, it was reported that the Federal Government said that 2020 WASSCE candidates will not partaking in the upcoming exams. This statement was made known by the Minister of Education, in the person of Adamu Adamu. He said this with the reason that the students health should be number one and WAEC shouldn’t determine whether schools open quickly or not. He made mention that, even if it’s going to take a whole calendar year out from the academic calendar, they would. All these measures were to make sure that the students were not exposed to the dreaded COVID-19.

Today, WAEC has finally reacts to it. It should be noted that WAEC noted the Government’s decision to stop its candidates in Nigeria from writing the exams. The decision and situation were still under review says Areghan. He noted that the public will be duly updated when they conclude with the final decisions. He also pointed that there was uncertainty on whether the exam will continue in the remaining four countries. He noted that they were operating in a five-member countries and there’s always corporation between us and the government. He also said that they cannot confront the government because the government has right to take positions.
